The next Artist Forum will take place on 5 March at the Tobacco Factory’s Green Room from 8 – 9.30pm. At this meeting venues can pick up their flags for the Trail (a deposit cheque of £5 made payable to ‘SBA’ will be required) and ask any questions of the organisers they might have. There’ll also be an opportunity to ask about uploading images and text and possibly have a go at blogging on our site for the uninitiated. With only one more such meeting before the Trail it would be great for as many participants to turn up as possible. Come and have a glass of wine and a chat with the other people on the Trail.
This has now closed for new venues. However, if you have artists at your venue or friends who can find a venue they can still participate and register. However, they will not appear in the Trail paper guide. They can have an entry on our website linked to their venue though. Please contact Janine at communication@sbaweb.co.uk / 07742 740642 for registration forms or visit the Downloads and documents page.
All venues should have been sent by email a Venue Information Form. The information that is asked for on this form will create the content of the paper version of the Trail Guide. It is important that venues return these forms as soon as possible either via email (preferred) or on paper. It is also important that venues send an image that they would like used for their venue. If a venue has already uploaded an image onto the website which it would like to use, please state this somewhere on your form. All forms must be received by 13 March 2008 in order to give the volunteer who designs our Guide time to format the information. Please do this NOW. Return to Janine at 3 Agate Street, Bedminster, Bristol, BS3 3AQ or to communication@sbaweb.co.uk.
Everyone taking part in this year’s Trail is invited to upload an image, text and contact details onto our website. Nearer the Trail these entries will be listed alphabetically by artist name and will also be linked to the participating venues via a map. ALL participants (including single artist venues who have also sent in their venue information forms) should upload their information onto the website to give maximum impact to their participation in the Arts Trail. If you can do this before 13 March 2008 this would be helpful, but you can upload and update your entry at any time up to the Trail weekend. The administrator of our website is a volunteer, so please be patient when requesting login names. Remember these aren’t sent out automatically, you have to request them as per the instructions on your Artist Information document.
As part of the 2008 Arts Trail the Southville Centre would like to host a Moving Image Festival (working title) in their Greville Room over the Trail weekend. They are inviting all who are interested in taking part in this festival to contact Janine on 07742 740642 or communication@sbaweb.co.uk. Submission forms are now available. They are hoping to include animation, short films, experimental/art films, historical and documentary films in their programme. If you know of anyone, particularly if they are based in South Bristol (although interest from anyone in Bristol is invited) who works with moving image and might be interested, please forward this information on to them. As well as films to show, co-ordinators for the event are also sought. Again, contact Janine if you feel you could be of some help. There will be no submission charge for this event.
The first Artist Forum of 2008 hosted a ‘Cut, Fold, Slot’ – an invitation to play. Participants were given 20 pieces of card which they could then manipulate in any way they wished using the actions of cutting, folding and slotting. Everyone who attended seemed to really enjoy themselves. Dylan Arnold took some photos on the night and he has a set of photos of everyone getting into it in his flickr account.
